Every Action Echoes in the Hive
METAPHYSICS MEETS HR PART 5:
RELATIONALITY & KARMA

Dear Biz Bee,
Some leaders believe culture is created through proclamations; values on walls, speeches at all-hands, declarations about who “we are.” But a hive is not shaped by what is announced. It is shaped by what is lived. The metaphysical law of karma, the idea that every action produces a consequence, is not philosophy here. In organizational life, it is physics.
Every choice inside a workplace ripples; every email tone, every missed acknowledgment, every boundary ignored or honored. Bees remember what is repeated. They remember what is rewarded. They remember who is protected and who is sacrificed. Karma is the ledger the hive keeps, even when HR never writes it down.
In an unconscious hive, leaders tell themselves stories about why outcomes occur:
“People just don’t want to work.”
“We can’t find loyalty anymore.”
“They’re young, they don’t get it.”
Conscious leaders ask a different question:
“What karma have we created here? And what is returning to us as a result?”
When a workplace demands emotional labor without relational repair, karma comes back as resentment. When it avoids accountability to “keep the peace,” karma returns as quiet quitting. When it ignores employee voice, karma returns as turnover. Karma is not punishment. Karma is information in the honeycomb revealing where imbalance has accumulated.
Relationality, the truth that everything in a hive is interconnected, is what makes karma unavoidable. No decision is isolated. A promotion without transparency impacts trust in departments untouched by it. A layoff handled carelessly can poison the hive years after the names are forgotten. A leader who rolls their eyes one time at a brave idea can train an entire hive to never speak again.
Your role, Biz Bee, is to teach leaders that culture is not what they say, it is what they repeat. That reputation is not branding, it is behavior. And that nothing inside a hive is ever “just business.” Bees feel everything.
A hive rich in positive karmic exchange feels unmistakable. People show up wanting to give because the hive has given to them. Generosity is not transactional, it is instinct. Creativity is not pulled, it rises. Leadership is not feared, it is trusted. In those environments, karma is not cleaning up... it is compounding.
This is why relational hygiene matters. Conversations need closure. Mistakes need repair. Praise needs to be spoken, not assumed. You cannot build high performance on an emotional landfill. If negativity accumulates without ritual release, the hive becomes heavy. And heavy hives cannot fly.
Tomorrow, when you re-enter your organization, notice your own karma. Whose email did you delay responding to because it felt inconvenient? Whose efforts did you silently benefit from without acknowledgment? What truth did you swallow because it felt easier? Personal karma becomes organizational culture when multiplied by hundreds of bees doing the same thing.
You do not fix karma by talking.
You fix it by doing differently.
